BVD can be caused by a number of eye conditions , some common ones are listed below:
– difficulty getting both eyes to point together on an object ( convergence insufficiency)
– difference in focusing ability between the eyes ( anisometropia)
– a turned or lazy eye from early childhood ( strabismus /amblyopia)
– disruption of previous visual ability through concussion / traumatic brain injury
– break down of comfortable visual function due to eyestrain ( common in screen users)
– sore tired eyes
– double vision
– headache
– difficulty concentrating when reading
– struggling with learning / reading / screen use
– dizziness

The good news is that BVD can be assessed and treated. Treatment can be glasses with lenses that help the two eyes to work as a team. Filters and vision therapy are other tools that we can use to teach the visual system to work as an efficient whole with both eyes in play.
